KANGKONG KING - What to expect?

My sister ordered something for Father's Day from a fund-raising activity and I'm excited on what she bought because it includes this goodie:

KangKong King is relatively new in the market, I guess they've been around for 1 year, and it's made of fried watercress leaves coated in batter and flavoring. In the package, we had 4 flavors - Plain, BBQ, Cheese, and Sour Cream which are equally good. They come in resealable packs with moisture absorbers to keep it dry and crispy.

My favorite is the Cheese flavor which has a very distinct taste. The others were just plain or salty. But I like how it stays crispy even if we don't fully consume it right away. Kudos to the innovative mind who created this product making use of what's readily available even in our backyard.

Tasting the Andok's Litson Baka

Since last week, I have been seeing many posts on social media about Andok's Litson Baka so I have to try it. But before that, aside from the hype that I've been witnessing, I also saw actual queues from my friends' posts meaning that it is a hot item and selling like pancakes since its launch.

I was hesitant to order because there is not even an occasion to celebrate with. Just to satisfy my curiosity, I gave in to my cravings and booked via Grab. I assumed that there will be longer lines if I order nearer to dinner time so I booked it 2 hours later. My rider was 15th in line but he arrived just 30mins since I ordered. Talk about fast service.

So the moment of truth, the Andok's Litson Baka tastes good. The beef is so tender carrying their signature smoke-grilled taste. I think it goes well for your samgyupsal parties at home with all the sidings. I even had 3 cups of rice for this and 1 order is already good for 4. Price is P352 when you order from GrabFood, P320 for Grab Pabili which I think is reasonable considering the price of beef in the market.

I did not know that they are holding a promo right now. They said that if you order 5 of these, you can have an electric griller, this offer is good until supplies last.

Wok N Roll

Tried this hip place in Sheridan St. Mandaluyong City where you can mix and match different Asian flavors that will satisfy your taste.
Retail 05 Ground Level Rockwell Business Center, Mandaluyong City
Wok n Roll, a young restaurant that offers casual dining experience opened in December 2018 and has been catering good food to the Rockwell Business Center Sheridan establishments and nearby residents in the area.

It's stylish interiors are welcoming and cozy, perfect for meetings or casual get togethers. An IG-friendly spot while enjoying the food that they have to offer. I love the dome light fixtures that show intricate details in close up. Chairs and tables are relatively comfortable and there are pepper displays that spices up good conversations among your friends.

Speaking of food, Wok n Roll provides wide choices that you can enjoy while dining in or on-the-go. They have customized and signature menu to suit your appetite. You can make your own rice bowls that contains rice or noodles, sauce, protein, and/or vegetables. Their signature dishes

The ingredients are also in display and they are cooked over the counter that's why you are guaranteed with fresh and neatly prepared dishes in front of your eyes.
Fresh ingredients
Me and the group I'm with tried their Make Your Own Menu. We had these delectable dishes that combines great tasting ingredients cooked right.

Rice noodles, chicken, mushroom, Hainanese chicken sauce
For me this is the perfect balance. The noodles are tender, flavors don't overpower the others, it has veges and protein and the Hainanese chicken sauce gives that good umami taste. The mushroom squeezes out the juice in the mouth and it's guilt-free to finish the whole thing.

Brown rice, chicken breast, satay, broccoli
The rice is perfectly cooked as well, the chicken breast is tender and juicy, I love the satay sauce's sweetness too. They cooked the broccoli with a right crunch.
Their signature Pad Thai and fresh spring rolls that roll out the great Asian taste. The Pad Thai is not very spicy which I really liked. The fresh spring rolls a strong cilantro taste that I like.

Wok N Roll is open from 10am-10pm Mondays-Sundays. You may also check their social media pages:

Conceived by 5 partners who have a passion for culinary, a boat welcomes you at the center of the entrance with interiors complete with life savers and cleats like you're really inside a huge ship.

For example, if you're into bite-sized delicacies, try ChickaPig that offers deep fried bagnet or chicken balls, etc that matches perfectly for pulutan.
There's a wide variety of choices inside 8 Seas Food Park Adventure but the highlight for me is trying out Samgyeop sa Timog at the second floor that offers Korean BBQ. It also has 9 different side dishes: kimchi, fish cake, pickled cucumber, atchara, raddish and carrots, peanuts, vegetable curry, lettuce, japchae to dip in Ssamjan, Yangnyum and sesame oil with salt and pepper, PLUS melted cheese and kimchi soup. brunch at RUSTIC MORNINGS

A bright Sunday morning when I immediately got out of bed and washed to catch the 11am meeting with friends in a place called Rustic Mornings in Marikina. A humble home converted into a restaurant with great ambiance with both al fresco and dine-in facilities that can accommodate small groups and families.

It was my very first visit to the restaurant and they jokingly asked how come I was never ever get to come to the place when I was the one most accessible to it. I just ignored and looked at the menu beside me and hailed the waiter for a blueberry pancake, some sliced kiwi and roasted almonds on the side.
As it arrived, butter melts down the pancake and the blueberry syrup drips down the side which made it look more appetizing. I thought that they are just toppings but the batter also has blueberries in it. I drizzled over the maple syrup and began to enjoy the rich and creamy pancake for my brunch. One slice of kiwi at a time and crunch on some toasted almonds made the blueberry pancake more interesting.

Finishing it with matcha latte and then I'm ready to take an afternoon nap.

RUSTIC MORNINGS is located at 11 I. Mendoza St., San Roque, Marikina City.

SM City Masinag Food Crawl: Tro-Pares

Establishing their first branch in SM City Masinag Food Court is Filipino-style Tro-Pares, a place for our favorite "pares" and other local dishes with a twist and distinct flavor.
Boasting their pares recipe, which the meat almost melts in your mouth in tenderness. Their pares sauce is unique in sweetness and not too thick so it's perfect to top on rice. Sip a cup of soup to warm up your stomach and to boost your appetite.

They also serve other Filipino favorites like Seafood Kare-kare for those who likes to cut their meat. I personally love the yummy kare-kare sauce that is rich in peanut taste. Keeping it healthy with a bunch of vegetables cooked just right.
If you are in search of all-day breakfast meals, they also have 'silog.' Try their Adobo-Silog that will surely hit your hunger spot for piquant flavors.
Tro-Pares is located at the Food Court of SM City Masinag, 4th floor, Marcos Hiway, Antipolo City.

SM City Masinag Food Crawl: Rye & Dean's

Glad to be invited by a good friend who works in SM City Masinag in Antipolo City for a rare Food Crawl which showcased 8 different tenants in their Food Court. So sad to say that my SD card got corrupted last Valentine's Day (yes, it had to be Vday) so I am getting back on each tenant one by one.

Let me introduce to you one of the great pleasures and starting it off with a very IG-worthy food presentation.

    Rye & Dean's
    Rye & Dean's
I admit that I am not really trying this until it had to introduce itself during the food crawl. A Brooklyn-style food tenant in SM City Masinag stood out from the rest that offer usual Filipino food. I returned to Rye & Dean's this afternoon and found out that they have a promo going on. Eye-catching and mouthful Hungarian sausages in their own six-inch buns they made themselves. They can claim that their bread is their own, they even branded it. It is served with two glasses of lemonade, plus get a soft large cookie.
I ordered what we had during the Food Crawl which is the simplest but should not be ignored. The corn dogs is an authentic recipe that you may get in amusement parks and can be brought to the cinemas without making a mess. The corn batter is the real thing unlike what we do with ready-to-mix batters. I had corn puppies, the cutest name they thought of with smaller versions of the corn dogs. Serving 4 pieces that is good for 2 or you can have it all for yourself.
    Corn Puppies
What also amazed me of Rye & Dean's is they serve their food on wooden crates or boards which they also branded, saving on disposable containers.
Find Rye & Dean's at SM City Masinag, 4th floor at the Food Court beside the cinema lobby for more visually enticing sausage buns that also fill grumbling stomachs and discriminating taste. They also serve desserts at an affordable rate.

    What's in my Bibimbowl?

Last night after hearing mass in Ali Mall, Cubao, I asked my mama if we can eat at BonChon since I am craving for bibimbap. So we went there and I immediately ordered 2 Bibimbowls, had to make both of them different so we our tastebuds can sense different tastes.

I was having a Taco Bibimbowl and she had Seafood Bibimbowl. Taco Bibimbowl is new to me and still have to give in to my craving. When it arrived, I was surprised on what it has on the toppings:
    Taco Bibimbowl
Literally, someone pulled out some chips from a pack and crushed it before placing it on top of the rice. Then added salsa, red beans and the glazed fish pops with it. They tried to give that "crunch" with the corn chips. After all, what's a taco without tortilla shells?

While as for my mom, she liked her Seafood Bibimbowl. I also liked it because of the nori strips. They might have added more Gojuchang with it that boosted the flavor. Gojuchang is now my favorite condiment.
    Seafood Bibimbowl
Here are all the Bibimbowls you can order in BonChon for only Php 99.

I noticed that the branch didn't follow their SOP. Instead of beef in my taco bibimbowl, they put glazed fish pops. It's also sad that their serving in Shopwise Cubao easily gets cold. I think they are rushing to closing time since it was already about 8pm. Some of the items were also no longer available. I tried to order Japchae soup but no luck.

    REVIEW: HARINA Artisan & Bakery

There are times when I crave for bread and it's just not for the usual staple, I want it with fillings. Sometimes the crumbs and crusts are very tasty and crunchy as I wanted it and almost find nothing nearby.

I had a little shop that I wanted to check out since it opened in November. I always pass by this simple place near White Plains, Katipunan. The little white house called Harina Artisan which welcomes you like you are called in for a short visit to relax, dine and enjoy.
Really feels like home located in the tranquil and interesting Katipunan street that has a fusion of country living in an urban setting. Very accessible for all motorists from Marikina, Pasig and Quezon City, and a great place to hang out  with its comfortable interiors.
When you check their bread, you will ran out of imagination and will just wait for the surprise. When we checked this place out, I was a little sick and the short fun with my friends had it cured. We started with these crunchy baked bread sticks that you'll dip in cheese and chocolate. I thought it was milk but it's equally good.
Then most of the bread dishes are good for sharing. The presentations are very appetizing and it tastes as good as it looks. They put in steak, vegetables, chicken, cheese and more. Served to you like a feast and your tongue and tummy will definitely enjoy. They also serve pasta if you have those Italian tastebuds and all dishes are prepared from fresh ingredients. I forgot to mention that the bread is freshly baked and  handcrafted by their baker masters.
If you have time to visit Harina Artisan, they are already open from 6AM so you can have your yummy breakfast until dinner, 9PM. Call 352-6721 for orders or visit www.harina.ph for details.
