YOSHINOYA reopens in SM Megamall

it was that feeling that you'll miss something when it is gone. but a reason to rejoice and revisit SM Megamall again and again is that Yoshinoya has recently reopened its branch after a few months that it was closed. to my surprise, the renovated branch was now clearer and brighter, and more inviting to the guests.
of course, our favorite Beef Gyudon, Tonkatsu and other Japanese food are still present in the menu that are still affordable and not compromising the quality. the white rice cooked just right with the chewy strips of beef and made more savory with gyudon sauce is a favorite here and also other parts of the world.
starting in October, Yoshinoya will also open their delivery services when you call 288-2888. a very easy number to memorize to enjoy your favorite Yoshinoya dishes.

branches:

SM Mall of Asia

MOVIE STARS CAFE

it was just a small gathering with my former officemates, Joy, Tin, Ging and Jeff with some of their loved ones last Saturday. we chose to have a chitchat over dinner, with matching very extravagant entertainment at Movie Stars Cafe at Mall of Asia, By the Bay. the place was definitely get jam-packed as the evening gets deeper with every production number that comes in.
talking about the place, you'll find many celebrity memorabilia from Hollywood. from music, movies, to comics, they have it. posters as if "signed" by the celebrity themselves hold in the gallery of fame that circles all guests. more than that, you have screenings of any show, distributed throughout the space.
a huge investment on the fun factor for the guests is every production number that goes every 15 minutes. the staff cosplaying different characters like Spider-man, Transformers and more, and roaming around the visitors to have their pictures taken with them. a few moments and Barbie girls were out, and more... you'll be surprised on what the next production would look like.
the food is a mix of American, Italian and French. you'll have burgers, salads, pasta and cakes. best that we availed our food via group buying sites so i never bothered thinking how much will i eat. be there with an empty stomach because food is really heavy because of sausages, bread and pasta.

staff and crew are also very accommodating and you don't need to wait too long for them to attend your orders. they are very attentive if you need a drink or not. kudos to this restaurant for giving such a wonderful hospitality and ambiance to the guests.

BREAD TALK: out of words

this will be the first time that i'll be writing about Bread Talk. that bread lover's haven that gives us a gallery of breads, from tasteful to artsy, you name it. i am really out of words in awe of the different types of bread inside the cozy and bright room.
Bloggers posing while inside Bread Talk
of course, the place is always neat as it should be. and that shows that their breads are fresh made and stored well, avoiding the contamination from environment. i mean, by the way they look, they won't last long on the shelves. you will be snapping a piece or two with their easy "serve-yourself" policy.

the large possibilities of making bread is unexpected in this store. for the first time, i already had my personal favorite. the Ube bun that oozes out purple yam jam in every bite of soft bread covering. i can eat up to 3 of those, non-stop.

other than the flavored breads, they also display bread art. sorry but the croc and birds are not edible.
the choices are endless, i'm sure. i'm really looking forward if they'll be offering many more bread flavors soon.

DANIEL PADILLA and LILY'S: more than just household names

growing up has a lot of memories and Lily's Peanut Butter is a sure part of it. for 60 years, it has been trusted and has been the household name when it comes to a preferred peanut butter brand. they do not need much of advertising and publicity because of the recall that they established. during this time also, the zero-transfat and cholesterol-free product has developed products such as Coco Jam, Crunchy Peanut Butter and Chocolate Peanut Butter.
but it is more amazing that commoners like me would know that a big celebrity would be appreciating the goods that we use. with Lily's, matinee idol Daniel Padilla, together with mom, Karla Estrada endorses Lily's Peanut Butter. a first for the company and for the mother and son tandem as well to work together.
Mother & son, Karla Estrada and Daniel Padilla
Daniel, as they call him DJ, and Karla reminisces their bonding times while the mom prepares baon for her son. Daniel also enjoys the conversation as he tells many possible dishes he can do with Lily's Peanut Butter. with that being said, Lily's Peanut Butter is not just a table material but also compliments a bonding time with everyone. as endorses, they also believe that there is nothing to replace this product and that one can also say, "Ikaw lang talaga, Lily's."

Lily's Peanut Butter is also used in many dishes other than sandwich. it is also used for Kare-Kare, Salad, Siomai, and desserts.

irresistibly delicious CADBURY DAIRY MILK

it is rare that some people would be sharing chocolate just for the sake of sharing. i was very thankful and lucky when a friend told me that he will be sending a chocolates over courier for me. i said, who can resist chocolates? i immediately said yes and this humble favor for that nice person is to write about it.

i was really surprised when the package came over and even got more excited when i found out that it was Cadbury Dairy Milk chocolates inside. not one bar, but 6 smooth and creamy chocolate bars in 3 different variants: Dairy Milk, Cashew and Cookies and Fruit and Nut. while some people save the best for last, i opened my first Cadbury Dairy Milk bar and shared it with my officemates.
many studies that chocolates help release a special hormone that makes us feel happy or in love but for me, true happiness is the moment when you share it with your loved ones. no rocket science that can explain the pleasure of biting into the rich creaminess and smoothness of chocolates, especially if it's Cadbury Dairy Milk.

HOLDAK: falling in love with real Korean chicken

it was a traditional story of a passionate foodie of bringing in his favorite dish in his hometown. but for Carl Tan, President of Holdak Philippines, his story is not just about passion for food but falling in love with it. in his business venture, Holdak, he shares his story of how he brought home a piece of what he loves and he also shares the moments of being in love with his favorite chicken dish.
Holdak, from a Korean phrase "Holdak ban hada" which means "to fall deeply and madly in love with something" and Dak in Hangul dialect which means chicken. so it's a play on words of "falling madly in love with chicken." in his special invitation, i really now understand why he is in love.

started just last January 2013, Holdak first opened at the foot of Mezza residences in Manila where people pass by. thus, the willingness of Carl Tan to share and spread his happiness to the passers by and even visitors make it standing in store today. he first tasted Holdak in a chilly night in Beijing and finding out it's franchising terms even encouraged him to bring it here. how excited is he reminiscing back memories of watching a movie in Beijing with friends eating Holdak chicken on their laps.

the restaurant is easy to find on its location. the chicken head icon makes its mark on the glass window of the restaurant. of course, you'll never get confused with its orange appeal. a very inviting atmosphere and cozy interior for everyone.
his chicken party became more livelier when courses of Holdak chicken is being served on the tables. 4 different flavors to choose from: Yang-Nyam, Spicy Yang-Nyam, Padak and Jack Daniels. all dishes are well-done boneless chicken thighs with a crispy breading. the different flavors will satisfy your palates with different heat intensities and sweetness. my personal favorite is the Padak chicken which has to be eaten with spring onions. a little bite with chili for that satisfying kick.
Clockwise from Top left: Spicy Yang-Nyam, Jack Daniels, Yang-Nyam and Padak
Padak
other than these yummy chicken dishes, you can also try other specialties like their Regular and Cheese Ramen, the Curry Fries (another ) and their salad. all perfectly complement the taste of their chickens and you will not get used to the taste.

soon, Holdak Chicken will be available thru delivery in a 5-kilometer radius from its position. you can call 354-2195 for a minimum order of Php 250. you can also take home a box of 6 (single-flavor) or 12 (2 flavors) for a very reasonable but affordable price.

your stomach-friendly coffee

i am a coffee-drinker myself. i can actually consume 2 servings of coffee drinks a day, whether hot or cold. this is to keep myself perky and active while i do my tasks and avoid getting drowsy throughout the day. coffee, for a fact, helps in avoiding certain diseases like Parkinson's, Alzheimer's, dementia, heart and cardiovascular diseases, stroke and cancers of the liver, kidney and prostate.

but everything has to be taken into moderation. unlike others who have low-tolerance in acidic drinks like citrus and even coffee. many people can't even drink more than a cup because they experience stomach pain due to hyperacidity.

then an innovation in coffee specifically targeted to this kind of drinkers is made by premiere coffee brewer, KOPIKO. introducing the first low-acid mix coffee, L.A. Coffee. coming in for only Php 6 per sachet, you can enjoy the convenience of having your own coffee cup anywhere you go without worrying about stomach pain. "this is a healthier choice for coffee drinkers" as Michael Tandas, Kopiko brand manager, said.
enjoy the 3-in-1 goodness in packet from selected grade 1 coffee beans, roasted in a controlled process to reduce its acidity. smooth and with the right sweetness, a person with a sour stomach will just love it and have more as he likes.
right now, i am enjoying the treat of this coffee paired with  my favorite sweet snacks. the KOPIKO L.A. Coffee is available in leading supermarkets nationwide. manufactured by PT Mayora and distributed by TriDharma Marketing Corporation.

PRIMERO CASA FILIPINO review

i have many dining experiences, thus the weight gain. but i am not ashamed since i am living the life that i enjoy. i love the diversity of food and culture wherever i go and i think it's still nicest to get back to the old roots. but the contemporary can always jive in with the old-fashioned especially to a witness of many events -- a restaurant called PRIMERO CASA FILIPINO.
Primero Casa Filipino is a restaurant whose building is ancestral to many generations. it was before named Bistro Torillo, since it is located on Scout Torillo St. then renamed Katips, a college runaway place for night gimmicks; and now settling in its current name since July 2011.

the restaurant offers a great buffet spread well-planned. if you would be a regular customer, your palate will not get tired of a usual buffet line-up. thus, the three chefs of Primero Casa Filipino lay out different menus every day. during our visit, a pleasurable array of meat, seafood and vegetables. some favorites are these Shrimp Shooters and Roasted Chicken.
they also serve Filipino dishes with a twist like their Lumpia, Kare-kare, and Afritada which satisfied personal favors. flavors kick in with surprise and the meat dishes are tender and melts in the mouth.

interiors throughout the venue is a fusion of the old and the new. with the old building undergone restorations, new decorations accentuate and lit the place very well creating that calm atmosphere. go up to their Vivades where you can organize a private party upto 100 people. the public dining room, or Comedor, is where the buffet is served. young professionals can enjoy themselves at the Antesala with their drinks and pica-picas and socialize with more guests.
Comedor
buffets are served at different times for only Php 398 (Monday-Thursday) and Php 498 (Friday-Sunday).
