KANTO FREESTYLE: Pinoy best breakfast all day

If you are looking for the best all-day breakfast in Marikina, Kanto Freestyle Breakfast is a spot you should not miss. I have passed by this restaurant countless times on my way to work, and finally, I got to try it. What I found was a casual yet elevated dining experience that takes well-loved Filipino breakfast classics and gives them a gourmet twist.

The interiors are cozy, with a relaxed atmosphere that makes you want to stay a little longer. We went during a quiet time, but staff mentioned that weekends usually draw the biggest crowds. Whether you choose al fresco or indoor dining, the place is a great spot for casual meals, family gatherings, or even a late-night food run.

We started with the Lucban Longganisa, a true Filipino favorite. The longganisa was a satisfying mix of meaty and garlicky goodness, served with garlic rice, two sunny-side up eggs, and roasted tomatoes drizzled with pesto sauce. The modern plating added a nice touch, and while I wished for a bit more rice, the flavors were spot on, savory, comforting, and very satisfying.

Chocnut & Goya Ganache Pancake

To balance the savory flavors, we tried the Chocnut & Goya Ganache Pancake, a creative take on dessert that brings together two nostalgic Pinoy chocolate classics. The plate was beautifully styled with a brush of chocolate, and the pancake stack was topped with a generous dollop of ganache. It was as heavenly as it looked, rich yet familiar, and the perfect sweet ending to our meal.

What makes Kanto Freestyle Breakfast stand out is how it combines accessibility with a touch of gourmet. Despite the fancy plating and upgraded flavors, the dishes remain affordable and approachable. Whether you are craving silogs, pancakes, or sandwiches, this is a place where Filipino breakfast favorites are served with style all day, every day.

✅ Budget-friendly yet elevated
✅ Open any time of day
✅ Ideal for both solo diners and groups

Met the new king in Korean barbecue - SamgyupKing

While everybody is busy getting their carts full for 11.11, I met with a few friends and checked out a new Korean barbecue restaurant in Quezon City. I don't go much to Fisher Mall and it's quite a treat to be able to try out SamgyupKing which offers not just the usual Korean barbecue fares but they have some Filipino street food favorites that would lure you in to try.
Located at the 4th floor of Fisher Mall in Quezon Ave, near the cinema area, SamgyupKing is quite spacious and help yourself with their refreshing milk teas before you decide on what to get for your table at the buffet area.
They had pork, beef, and sausages. As I've mentioned, they have Filipino street food so expect some isaw, sliced pork intestine, and pig skin. Feel free to fill your bamboo tray with all the flavorful skewers of your selection before you cook them at their unique mechanical grill.
They also have galbi pork and chicken and on the other counter if you want to do it traditional with your tongs or chopsticks.
Banchan is also quite easy to reach. I had my favorite baby potatoes and kimchi that makes my samgyup meal complete with a dollop of gojuchang and rice rolled into fresh lettuce for that scrumptious bite.

Did I mention that it is only P499 per head? Quite reasonable for an unlimited samgyup-party that is perfect to enjoy with your family or friends. It is open during Fisher Mall hours, 11:00am til closing.

Follow their social media accounts: @samgyupking on Facebook and Instagram.

Food Panda Maginhawa Food Crawl Part 3: HOMIES PINOY FRIED CHICKEN

When we're off for lunch (imagine we just ate burritos and quesadillas), we went to another dining location. And this time it's more Pinoy. Homie's Pinoy Fried Chicken serves extraordinary Pinoy dishes that makes you feel come home. Their best-seller fried chicken is worth the try and you'll enjoy the right crispiness at an affordable prize.
It's a wide selection of home made cooking which are shown below:
Menu
This place is perfect for the hungry ones. When chicken cuts are too large for you, they serve extra rice for free! You just have to cluck those rubber chickens at your table to request for an extra serving.
Here are some of the dishes we tried during our visit. More photos HERE.

Enjoy delivery of Homies Pinoy Fried Chicken via Food Panda. So far, delivery is only available within 5km radius from the place, I think. But you can also try other restaurants without leaving your home via Food Panda app. Available in Google Play or App Store. You can also order online, rate the restaurants or ask for delivery.

Homies Pinoy Fried Chicken is located at 51-C Magiting Street, UP Village, Quezon City. Open from 12PM to 10PM. You may also contact 8064943 for orders.
