me and Joy were looking for a place to eat because i haven't had lunch since the event we had during the afternoon. we drove to Robinson's Place Manila and we ended up in Sakae Sushi. you know i really love sushi as i've mentioned in my previous blogs. it was my first time to eat here and aside from the dishes, this is what i enjoyed more:
at first i was just seeing this on TV and now, i get to experience to it. i enjoyed picking plates from the rotating menu and put it all in my mouth, all because it's a heavenly buffet! for Php 399, i can get as much sushi as i want!
i got 7 plates of different sushi and i had a generous serving of kikkoman and wasabe that i really love. i had shrimp, salmon, tuna, and California maki at the table. i also had miso soup to neutralize my stomach.
here's the price for each plate:
and i love finishing it off with chocolate sundae. cost: Php 119
i really laughed hard the first time i saw this commercial by a local vinegar. Derek Ramsay, Philippine local hunk and our premiere comedienne Elizabeth Ramsey hold a funny tandem for Datu Puti vinegar. the campaign for the "Mukhasim" (sour face) started years ago and they are using the two as endorsers.
it's really funny that their surnames sound alike but their features are so much different. at first, many people mistaken that Derek is related to Elizabeth. this ad really works for me!
it was very seldom nowadays that the three of us are present. me, Joriben and Flowell made this time extra special by eating out in Figaro before watching a movie.
wherever you are in the Philippines, you will encounter different Filipino cuisines bragging about their specialties. but there's something special about this new Filipino-style restaurant that i tried. it is Elias located at Bonifacio High Street in Global City, Taguig.
getting inside is a blast from the past with the pastel-colored walls. framed artworks displayed with the Filipiniana theme on European technique. the clash of 2 cultures, may it be Filipino or Spanish doesn't compromise the coziness of the place even inviting more visitors to come in.
the restaurant reintroduced the local dishes with a twist. Chef Florabel, the chef behind Crisostomo, got inspiration in Rizal's novel characters from his books and poems. here are just a few:
and after stuffing your bellies with these sumptuous treats, you can take your dessert, still the local way like this suman and chocolate fondue or local shorbet.
if you want to check out the prices of these dishes, you may check it out here.
Elias restaurant is located at East Superblock, 7th Avenue corner 30th street, Bonifacio Global City, Taguig. you may call them at 546-7977. open from 11AM - 11PM and even available for private functions.

Spain -- very close to the hearts of every Filipino after spending 300 years of history under the Spanish rule. but aside from what's written in history, Spain has contributed in the culture that we had today. the dances, traditions and most especially, food. here's an example that we remember Spain, the Flamenco dance presented by Tablao Flamenco Group at one Shakey's Pizza restaurant.
and Shakey's Pizza, being the benchmark of any pizza place in the Philippines, is very much generous to take a piece of Spain in our tables. presenting the new Pizza Castellana.
why Castellana? the name was taken from a place located in Spain near Madrid. in tribute to this place, Shakey's Pizza launches the new premium flavor of its house pizzas to touch our palates. the rich taste of authentic Spanish Chorizo (with red onions, red pepper strips and cheddar cheese and pizza sauce over your choice of crust: hand-tossed or thin) is one good reason how this pizza gets to the array of premium flavors of Shakey's offerings. Castellana identifies itself as a place of good-taste and high-class. the Pizza Castellana adds to the range of continental flavors of Shakey's pizzas.
this pizza is best served hot. especially when you add hot sauce for some heat. and what i like it the most, is when you'll bite into crispy slices of Spanish Chorizo over thin crispy crust. and Shakey's guarantees you will get fresh pizzas everytime you visit them or even when you order for delivery. love and passion to good and satisfying cravings justifies its worth.
the Pizza Castellana would be available for a limited time for just about, 3 months for now. but it can stay in the menu like the other premium pizzas, Angus Steakhouse Pizza and Manager's Choice, etc. if you'll give them a thumbs up. the price is still very reasonable and again, it's really satisfying.
Manager's Choice
how to enjoy the new Pizza Castellana? you can order a whole family-size pizza or even convert one pizza of your Monster Deal order to it. mojos, crispy fried chicken and pasta are perfect partners to it.
and don't forget to have dessert after it. some Shakey's stores offer frozen yogurt for those who are watching their figures.
the new Shakey's Pizza Castellana will be in stores starting March 15. if you want to get updates on what's cooking at Shakey's restaurants, you may want to check their Facebook account: www.facebook.com/ShakeysPH. for delivery orders, you may call 77777. and remember, if it's late, it's FREE!
now most of generation X remembers these two characters who portray healthy kids. Mead Johnson is proud to bring back Susy and Geno, driven from their number 1 health drink, Sustagen.
not too long ago, Facebook users had this case to solve on the whereabouts of Geno. Suzy has been searching for him for a long time. snapshots of Geno found in many areas in the Metro helped Susy track where he is. and at last on March 11 at Market! Market! in Bonifacio Global City, Taguig, they found each other. kids and kids at heart witnessed this exciting event and mobbed at Susy and Geno as they celebrate their reunion. Suzy and Geno never let everyone down giving them a special dance number.
i remember during my childhood that Susy and Geno do this every July in schools in celebration of Nutrition Month. i wonder if they will do it again starting this year.
everyone also had a free taste of Sustagen. this drink is one of the first chocolate drinks i had when i was a kid. that is also when i had the first glimpse of Suzy and Geno before they went out for a long time. Sustagen is a powdered milk drink that contains "23 Resistensya Builders" that protects the body from common illnesses. this also boosts the appetite for healthy dishes. it comes in chocolate and vanilla flavors.
and for those who want to take a souvenir of the event, specially-marked t-shirts saying "I was there when Susy found Geno" are also on sale.
so in order to boost your kids' immune system against sicknesses, give them Sustagen. Sustagen Premium is also available for adults which has multi-defense system that keeps them going in their busy schedules.
i was really hungry and i had to spend my last gift certificate at Figaro. since it is worth Php 500, i have to get the most out of it. i noticed that they have chillers for the summer. i got a Taro - Pudding Milk Shake that costs less than Php 90.
i also tried Pasta ala Carlo which is spaghettini in tuna tomato sauce. i love how the sauce was made. tuna sardines sauteed in its oil adding fresh tomato, herbs and top it with Parmesan and chili flakes filled my grumbling stomach.
i also liked their Caesar Salad. crisp greens with croutons and bacon balanced my diet. it was extra yummy with cheese and the heat of chili flakes. there was also this special sauce that added creamier taste to it.
recently tried out Teresita's of San Fernando with its branch along Tomas Morato, Quezon City. this establishment is a child of the famous Razon's of Guagua -- the home of that very creamy and delicious halo-halo that makes everyone come back.
we ordered different rice meals. we had beef caldereta and kare-kare. i must say that that kare-kare is very nice even without the shrimp paste (alamang). and the other is the Pansit Palabok, another Razon specialty.
the beef caldereta, on the other hand, is spicy but just right. i ordered another cup of rice. but would you think that Php 20 is too much for like a 1/2 cup of rice? i think it's expensive.
anyway, there will still be room for dessert. we had halo-halo and green tea cake, but the cake isn't from Teresita's. if you want the special halo-halo, you'll get sweet jackfruit strips in the cold mix.
that was a very full lunch with friends. afterwards, you'll want to take a nap -- or even a full sleep. XD
the place will also provide you with information on the beginnings of Teresita's as a brand. you may want to read the short history posted in the wall.
i just like to share what i had in an invitation for brunch. i met with some friends at Via Mare and at the same time appreciated what we put on our table.
Beef Sinigang (above) and Crispy Boneless Dilis with Rice and Omelette
and to cap it off, a tall glass of nice and healthy apple juice. at the back was a Guinumis for dessert.
you know i love sushi. especially dipping it in Kikkoman Soy Sauce mixed with a generous amount of wasabe that tingles the tongue and sets your nostrils on fire. that's how i love it. but what is more special than being served with fresh and yummy sushi is to pay it in half! and Tempura Japanese Grill is offering it and i don't even know it! you may observe that i don't usually go out to eat in fancy restaurants but i had an amazing time enjoying the promo.
i ordered a Mixed Sushi plate where it has 4 of each variety. so having 12 pieces of sushi is very good for paying just half the price. we were blessed to be there before the cut-off time. and since there's not a lot of people coming in, staying there for a while relaxed my tiring feet.
of course, warming up the tummy is another thing. i always order a bowl of miso soup to resist the cold atmosphere inside the restaurant.
the promo is still on. but from what i saw at the pictures, they only had it from February 1 - 29, 2012. aren't we glad that maybe they have extended it? try the nearest Tempura Japanese Grill nearest you.
