Super Bowl of China unveils new dishes this July!

Super Bowl of China introduces 4 new dishes added to their delectable and very satisfying menu. and with Super Bowl's signature taste, we will surely crave for these 4 new dishes namely: Golden Weave Cut US Frozen Potatoes with Minced Pork, Crispy Fish Fillet with Lemon and Plum Sauce, Hot and Spicy Chicken, and Beef Fillet Chinese Style.

Potatoes and Pork, ah, i remember when i am having nachos but this time, criss-cut fried potatoes is not a very bad combination to pork. i could eat big servings of this. hehe. by the way, the potatoes are of US quality so flavor is not compromised and you'll really love it.

i've never tried Hot and Spicy Chicken because of my low tolerance to heat. but as what others who have tasted it say, it really tingles inside your mouth and you probably won't stop munching. be sure to follow it with a really cold drink to tone down the heat in your mouth.

my favorite, Fish Fillet in Lemon and Plum Sauce is really mouth watering. the yummy taste of plum and citrus lemon combined with it gives a tangy taste and certain sweetness to the dish.

Beef Fillets Chinese Style isn't so much greasy and that's what i love about it. the meat is so tender and the marinade really covers your palate at every bite.

and not only that Super Bowl of China launches this new 4 additions, it also introduces the arrival of 2 new characters: Happy and Lucky! these two kids love to cook and give good memories to everyone. indeed, i have a very happy and lucky moment at that time. thanks Yehey!

13 Waiter Secrets

1. Avoid eating out on holidays and Saturday nights. The sheer volume of customers guarantees that most kitchens will be pushed beyond their ability to produce a high-quality dish.

2. There are almost never any sick days in the restaurant business. A busboy with a kid to support isn't going to stay home and miss out on $100 because he's got strep throat. And these are the people handling your food.

3. When customers' dissatisfaction devolves into personal attacks, adulterating food or drink is a convenient way for servers to exact covert vengeance. Some waiters can and do spit in people's food.

4. Never say "I'm friends with the owner." Restaurant owners don't have friends. This marks you as a clueless poseur the moment you walk in the door.

5. Treat others as you want to be treated. (Yes, people need to be reminded of this.)

READ MORE on Yahoo

i've heard some stories regarding #3 and that really goes well with #5. it's just following the golden rule. not only it applies to waiters, but for everyone around us. a little smile and consideration to those who entertain you and work hard for the money can give them relief and an extra effort to serve you better.

The "Food Drive" in Spain

do you really want to go to Spain? well, it's the 2nd most popular tourist destination in the world. no wonder because it's got great spots, awesome natural views and of course, food! and with the Spanish Tourism Board offering us the beauty of Spain, Asian Food Channel (AFC) provides us a show that will make us appreciate it more.

Spain... On the Road Again is a 13-part series of a road trip to Spain and its food offerings with a spactacular cast of Chef Mario Batali, Gwyneth Paltrow, New York Times food columnist Mark Bittman and Spanish actress Claudia Bassols. they will take us to the food corners of Spain and we'll be able to explore their culture, history and of course, food. it airs every Tuesday at 9PM on the Asia Food Channel, SkyCable Channel 58.

during a special event at Spotlight in Chino Roces Ext. in Makati City, a feast of Spanish food and culture were co-presented by fellow Filipinos, authentic Spanish style. an intermission of Flamenco dance, Spanish songs, and great food made by Chef Alexandra from Tapella by Gaudi were experienced by the curious and food-fascinated guests.

Chef Alexandra made paella, a mixture of rice and yummy stuff and presented in vibrant colors! but there's a special dish she made by just covering a huge fish with just only salt! i tell you, it's so delicious i forgot its name. haha! and best of all, a sip of Spanish wines to finish it all.

with the cool stuff we've learned at the presentation of Spain... On the Road Again, we also brought cool stuff home! thanks to Asian Food Channel, Tapella by Gaudi, BPI Mastercard, Gastro Chef, Trucco, Fuego Hotels and Properties, L’oreal, and Amoroso.

Experience Talangkanin as seen on TV!

if you have been following the Koreanovela "Only You" on ABS-CBN, i am sure you noticed that special rice meal that Jillian prepares. it's called "BIBIMBAP" which is Korean for rice mix.

our Kapamilya, together with Kaya Restaurant, has revised the bibimbap from the original Only You recipe and made a Filipino version which is prepared by no other than Angel Locsin who plays Jillian. it's called the Talangkanin or the Aligue Bibimbap, ready to satisfy our rice and seafood cravings. fine crabmeat is mixed with warm rice and topped with mushrooms, squid trimmings, vegetables, egg and shrimps giving us a satisfying, healthy and yummy meal!

as per Korean eating tradition, it will never be complete with a hot and mouth-watering kim chi to add that spice and boost to your appetite and make you eat more! lucky invited bloggers were invited to have a taste of this meal and we say, we are full yet we want more!

we are also lucky to witness the traditional cooking of the bibimbap as the Kaya manager showed us how to prepare it in a hot stone bowl.

the Talangkanin is served at your nearest Kaya Korean Restaurant for only Php 220 at their express branches and Php 310 for fine-dining restaurants which are located at Jupiter, The Podium, Rockwell Powerplant, Glorietta VI, Paseo Center, Robinsons Place and SM Megamall.

Correct way to cook instant noodles

The correct way to cook instant noodles without harming our bodies and health. Normally, how we cook the instant noodles is to put the noodles into a pot with water, throw in the powder and let it cook for 3mins around and then ready to eat.

This is the WRONG method of cooking the instant noodles.

By doing this, when we actually boil the ingredients in the powder, normally with MSG, it will change the molecular structures of the MSG causing it to be toxic.

The other thing that you may or may not realized is that, the noodles are coated with wax and it will take around 4 to 5 days for the body to excrete the wax after you have taken the noodles.

CORRECT method , which you may or may not know, is to cook the noodles this way :
  1. boil the noodles in a pot with water.
  2. once the noodles is cooked, take out the noodles, and throw away the water which contains wax.
  3. boil another pot of water till boiling and put the noodles into the hot boiling water and then shut the fire.
  4. only at this stage when the fire is off, and while the water is very hot, put the ingredient with the powder into the water, to make noodle soup.
  5. however, if you need dry noodles, take out the noodles n add the ingredient with the powder and toss it to get dry noodles.
Please share this info and help save a life.

Hmm, so i'm a little worried right now. i have been cooking instant noodles in a pot with the noodles and powder in. i never thought that it's bad for me. now this is one lesson learned.

Food for the rainy season

if you happen to experience Agua de Mayo, you'll probably assume that it's the rainy season already. but a cold and wet season like this, you have a lot of options to keep warm and enjoy the cozy comfort of you own home. all you want is to recline in your couch, turn on the TV and sip a warm soup or drink until you get yourself to sleep.

while this site is dedicated to something edible, the following are the most recommended food choices for the rainy season. but you have to remember to be very careful when having these foods for you might burn your mouth.

Champorado - this rice porridge is added with cocoa to give that chocolate taste. this is best served to kids who might not want other porridge and would love to play milk art when they pour milk into the thick champorado.

Arroz Caldo - this has some similarities with goto and lugaw. and the only distinction to it is it should have chicken. Arroz Caldo is Spanish for chicken in a pot. goto and lugaw on the other hand is sometimes paired with fried tofu and pork bits soaked in soy sauce and vinegar with added onions.

Bulalo - this tempting and high-cholesterol beef soup will really give you the warm feeling of beef and the vegetables which are optional to add.

Noodle Soup - may it be instant or prepared from fresh ingredients, everyone have had a slurp of the long strands of mami. noodle dough is cooked in broth and added with vegetables and meat for that fill of the stomach. and as some commercial say, "Just add one egg" will make it more special.

Joey Pepperoni's Fondente Brownie ala Mode

last Saturday before watching the Premier D collection of the Philippine Fashion Week 2009, i went with a couple of friends, earth, jeff and jenn to Joey Pepperoni's branch at SM Mall of Asia. we only went there for dessert for we only gave company to jenn's friend who haven't eaten dinner yet.

for dessert, we had the Fondente Brownie ala Mode which is a square slice of brownie topped with vanilla ice cream and cherry drizzled with chocolate syrup. it really looks yummy and as expected for a food blogger, i take pictures of it:

before i'm done eating my brownie, one of my friends had something to say about it. she said that it has a little greasy taste which i find it odd when i took another taste. we didn't bother to call the manager maybe that's really the way they make their brownies. besides, what was more important to us is the moment that the four of us shared together.

but do you think we have to report it? or was it really the chocolate content of the brownie. some chocolates are greasy, right?

after that i got bored and managed to play with the chocolate syrup that's still on the plate. revealing my not-so-artistic side, i made a sun face:
